Cemetery Junction
A friend and I watched Cemetery Junction on Wednesday night.
It was an excellent film. All I can say, to pay it the highest compliment I can, is this:
It made my heart ache with nostalgia.
Some truly wonderful moments. Watch it and be taken back to the 70s. To your youth, when anything seemed possible.

Over the past couple of weeks, there has been a decent amount of discussion on the subject of Tumblr, Posterous and the rise of the micro-blog. Without recapping all the details, the general feeling of many is this: these services make it so easy to post that the quality of the content…

Looks like Google Voice recently introduced the second-best thing ever: ability to block a given “UNKNOWN” caller, even though, by definition, you don’t know their identity or number. Marry me. Frankly, I don’t care whether this works by wires, slave labor, or fucking elfin magic,…

He posts about his writing process, day to day. I’ve found the blog inspiring, informative and eye-opening.

30,000+
I’ve reached the 30,000 word mark of my novel in progress.
It took me longer than I’d hoped to go from twenty to thirty thousand words, but I was unwell for about a week, and didn’t have the frame of mind or energy to do any writing during that time. But I’ve shaken off the illness and am back, ready to start typing away.

Just finished reading 13 Things That Don’t Make Sense.
Author of this book, Michael Brooks, takes 13 mysteries that still confound modern science.
Not bad, not great. Overall 6/10.

Liverpool 3-0 Lille (agg 3-1) →
It wasn’t easy - Lille are a good team - but the Reds beat the French side over two legs and are now in the draw for the quarter-finals.
So, we still have a chance of silverware this season.

Duotrope →
One of the greatest problems I face, as a writer, is finding appropriate markets for my work. You see, quite often the work I produce is of mixed genres, and is not easily placed. Finding that e-zine, website or plain ol’ magazine publisher isn’t easy.
But I have found a great place on the net to help me.
It’s called Duotrope.
Duotrope is a writing markets website, with some great features and...

20,000+
I’m now 20,000+ words into the first draft of my novel.
It’s an interesting experience. I had a rough idea of the story before I started, but the more I write the more ideas are created. I think this is a result of letting the characters do what they want. A few characters have shown themselves to be different from how I had first pictured them. One minor character has become integral...

Starbase 66 →
Starbase 66 is one of my favourite sci-fi podcasts.
Hosted by Rick Tetrault and ably assisted by Ro Karen and Kennedy Gordon, the Starbase is a fantastic place to listen to others talk geek, analyse sci-fi past and present, and have fun doing so.
I don’t agree with all of their opinions, and I occasionally catch myself shaking my head, but the show is such fun, and done with such joie de vivre,...

Radio Lab is a podcast produced by WNYC and is, without doubt, the best series of podcasts I’ve ever had the privilege of listening to.
For the unacquainted (remedy that sorry situation bybecoming acquainted!) Radio Lab takes a subject and examines it thoroughly. The podcasts cover numerous, diverse, surprising and fascinating areas, including Stress, Time, Placebo, Earthworms, Sperm and...

Over To You
I am currently reading Over To You by Roald Dahl.
Over To You is a collection of short stories about flying. Drawn in part from Roald Dahl’s time spent serving in the RAF, the stories delve into flying an aircraft and all its inherent dangers and thrills. More than that, though, the book offers insights into the psychology of a pilot during wartime.
I’ve only read the first two stories of the...

Domain Failure
So far I’ve registered 6 domain names. I’ve barely done a thing with any of them. Some of them I paid for, then did fuck all with.
I’m screwed if I carry on this way: wasting time and money on ideas. Ideas are great - but they are fucking useless unless you act on, and complete them.
I need to complete stuff.
